What To Expect

The Church

The Church is not a building. The Church is not a place where people go once per week to feel spiritual, eliminate guilt, or attempt to make God happy. The Church is the body of Christ, made up of all people, worldwide, who profess Jesus alone as Savior and Lord. This means that The Church is not a place, but a people. A people united together to fulfill the mission of God and live for the glory of Jesus.

Jesus commissioned us to love others above ourselves, to live as a servant, to worship God in all that we do, to follow His example in everything, and to make disciples of all nations. Living in obedience to this commission would be overwhelming to any one person, but Jesus did not intend any of His followers to do it on their own. Instead, He unites believers together in local church communities to fulfill His mission.

Church @ The Well is a group of Christ-followers who unite together on mission, in loving community, to support one another in living solely for the glory of Jesus. We desire to serve one another, be a blessing to our community, spread the Gospel, and be agents of reconciliation within our city.

Worship

Worship is an end in itself, because it is the final end for which we were created.–John Piper

Church @ The Well gathers every Sunday in East Boston for a time of public worship. By worship we simply mean giving God the honor and worth that He deserves. Worship is the only proper response to who God is and what He has done through His Son, Jesus. We believe that every aspect of a Christ-follower’s life should be lived as an act of obedient worship. We also believe that there is something special about The Church gathering together each week for fellowship, prayer, singing, and Bible teaching. These special times allow for the body of Christ to come together, as a family, and be refreshed, encouraged, and challenged to live as true disciples of Jesus every day of the week.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.Hebrews 10:23-25
